The ‘Civico Museo Archeologico e della Città’ (City and Archaeological Museum), opened in 1990, is housed in the 15th-century ‘Loggia del Castello Nuovo’, within Savona’s Priamàr monumental complex.
The museum is part of the MUSA (Civici Musei Savona) circuit and is included in the network of museums in the Liguria Region.
The Civico Museo Archeologico di Savona, located in the Palazzo della Loggia, combines the exhibition route with some archaeological areas. The constantly changing exhibition design adapts scientific content to the dynamics of archaeological research. The leitmotif of the exhibition is ceramics and the types produced in Savona since the Middle Ages are represented, with one section dedicated to the Fortress.
A specific route for the visually impaired (in Braille) has been set up along the museum route, with a number of stations where they can become acquainted with certain exhibits through touch.
The museum can also be visited by appointment.
The Museums’ reception desk can provide a guide (in Italian and English) to the Monumental Complex and the Museum, as well as scientific publications published by the Managing Institute and the Ligurian Centre for the History of Ceramics.

An extraordinary museum relating the history of ceramic art and technology. It is an authentic ceramic factory, perfectly preserved within the ancient village of Albissola Marina. Inside, several original rooms can be visited, where the old wood-fired kilns and decanting tanks for clay and glazes can be found. The museum houses a selection of contemporary ceramic art works from the civic collection, and a permanent exhibition of traditional ceramic nativity scenes, known as macachi, from Albissola.
