Open to the public since January 1953, the tourist route of the Toirano Caves includes a visit to the Bàsura Cave and the Lower Grotto of Saint Lucia.
The Bàsura Cave, known since always, but explored in its entirety only since 1950, is an archaeological site known worldwide for the important deposit of bones of cave bears, among the largest visitable in Europe and the exceptional traces of the passage of a small group of homo sapiens, who explored the cave about 14,000 years ago, at the end of the Upper Paleolithic.
